GREAT IDEA! even if you just cut back it is so nice ...I do not watch very much at all we do not have cable (gasp)

Wayfaring Wanderer

This totally sounds like me and Cody. We watch King of Queens re-runs just about everyday! I think that we may just adopt this new practice with you. Flipping through looking for something is pointless.....I did propose just the other day that we could cancel cable all together, and just get out tv off the internet.....

Our typical night is Cody on his side of the couch and me on mine. Our computers are in the living room, too. It's bad.... haha

I really want to do more to bring us closer together.

Thanks for helping me to be more aware of whats going on.

spread your wings

you are SO right - It's a good thing you're doing.
The tv is hardly ever on in my house. It's pretty quite around here but I like the quite. I would much rather spend the time reading, or now, its blogging -wow blogging has taken over (is that as bad as TV?). I do have to admit I like to watch a good movie or a special tv show, but I never watch reruns, ever.
good luck in your goal til Nov 1 you can do it.

Far Side of Fifty

Hey! Good to meet you! Margie left me a question over on my blog! yes we have Deer Ticks and Wood Ticks in Minnesota. They live in the tall grass and the trees..they get on us and the dog..they suck out your blood and get big and fat. They are gross! Deer Ticks are tiny like a speck of pepper. Wood ticks are larger. We have them from April til November..you are lucky if you don't have them!
I like TV..but yes I do ocassionally just shut the darn thing off! :)

Good for you! It's easy to just sit around and escape into television land when you've been working all day! That is a great thing to do! My husband and I have started walking at night before we do anything else so that helps!

Andie

Your view is spectacular...more so when you think about all of the dirty, muck raking political crap that is on every channel!

Good for you. I am looking forward to reading how this pans out for you and your family!

TV? Bah, humbug!

I'm not even sure if I want to buy one of those little boxes to convert the tv signal when it goes all digital next year. I mean, why bother?

So much drivel, too much else to do!

jori-o

Good luck! We unplugged the TV for a year and a half and it was marvelous!

Lisa's Chaos

I think I would die without tv. The funny thing is that I never watched much tv as a kid, teen or young adult. But at this point, for the last several years, it is usually on if I am awake and in the room. I do NOT just sit and stare at it - never have - but I do have it droning while I do laundry, vacuum, scrapbook, blog, etc. In fact, sometimes it's funny, when I'm working on a post and I need quite, I go outside, where the birds are, but I don't turn the tv off.

Sorry to drone on and on. I will be thinking about you a lot during the next days. :)

I used to have a neighbor who got rid of their tv and I do see to how it can be distracting to some. But please don't ask me to just sit and watch it, I will fall asleep. :) I have to be sewing or something with it. :)

I don't watch TV. I've now switched my addiction over to the computer. Sigh. I agree the trees are a much nicer picture though.

We're really trying. Right now we're being purposeful, if it's on while we're doing something else then it is okay. And we're being choosy. It is interesting that it has only been one day and I feel like we have found some extra time in the evening. Thanks for your support!

i'm very impressed you are doing so many things that are good for you both. you have good stick to-it-tiv-ness. and that view you have gets me every time. so many different ways to photograph the same scene!
i admit to being a very happy about the fact that we haven't had a television for more than 10 years. it isn't even hard once you stop looking for it. we read, we use our computers, we do talk but not as much as you might think without a TV. we are very ignorant about the shows people watch though so we are not much fun to commiserate with over who danced with the stars best or who is still in the running on..oh what's that one where amateur performers are in a competition for the season and each week someone gets eliminated by the mean and hard to please judge? i've seen the Top Model show while in chicago and i liked that very much.

Wayfaring Wanderer

So far this week we have been pretty good, but now I think I need to work on going to bed before 1:00!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm getting waaaay too much stuff done....haha....

When I get home from work I have either taken a walk or went out to get photos. When I get back, I have put a condition upon myself to get 2 things done on my to-do lists before I can sit down. I mean, I've been sitting down all day at work anyways. We even started cleaning my wash room that has been bugging the heck out of me....we could barely walk around in there! But last night I cleaned up half of it! Seriously, I'm thrilled, just thought I would give you an update.

I will be sure to blog about my new inspirations found here at soeurs du jour.
