Home Day

I'm staying home today.  I just came off 12 days of work and I want to be in my house.  I'm going to make butternut squash and caramelized onion gallette from Smitten Kitchen.  I'm going to knit, play with photos, do some laundry, read and maybe even have a glass of wine in the afternoon.

Oh shoot, the recipe calls for fontina cheese and sage so I guess I'll be taking a run to the grocery, maybe I'll walk it's such a beautiful fall day.  I know it's nice out because I already ventured outside to take some pics for you.

The roses in the vineyard are still blooming and I've two red ones in my own rose bed that I will be cutting and bringing in today.  Red roses from the garden in November make me so happy.

 

They haven't picked the grapes in the vineyard across the street yet.  There's a lot of picking going on by hand and by machine.  It's a busy month in wine country.

And check out this bit of whimsy I spotted at the end of my neighbour's driveway.

Twelve days of work! Ugh!! I don't know if I'd be able to do it. Actually I did do it about eight years ago for a time and I completely burned out. One's mind and body needs time off to rest and rejuvenate. Enjoy your weekend.
