Last night we went to see Avatar in 3D. We haven't been to the movies in a long time, unfortunately movies don't tend to have a long run in the theatre in our nearest city and by the time we get organized to go, the movie has gone. Barry is back at work and rehearsals have started meaning that very soon many of his evenings will be occupied. Last year we instituted a date night, we pick one free night, sometimes the only free night, in the week and do something.
Avatar was wonderful and magical. It was my first experience watching a movie in 3D and I was charmed by it. The colours and the flora & fauna in the movie inspired me. I wanted to come home and make a picture that looked just like THAT! I quickly ran the amarylis photo through Lightroom using a Lomo preset. I'll have to play more with that later. The message in the movie is a strong, good versus evil, love conquers and we are all one joined by a network, which, of course, reminded me of our blog and the network of wonderful magic that we have built here.
Oh, I am sappy this morning aren't I? We're in for a day of (continued) tidying as we get ready to list the house again tonight and I'm cooking for the week. Margie has found this great blog, Closet Cooking, find the Aztec soup recipe on that site and make it, it's a keeper recipe for sure. Today, I've chosen to make carrot, sweet potato, red lentil curried soup from Dinner with Julie.
I just noticed when I was linking that those are both Canadian sites. Which of course, slap shots me like a puck into the U.S. net, into the rest of our day. Hockey and the closing ceremonies! Go Canada! I am so proud, we done good!

Edited: I'm mad and upset now. I just discovered that I mailed a hand knit baby sweater to the wrong address. I hope that the people who received it in error are kind enough to send it back. The good news is that I know which wrong address I sent it to and the baby's Dad, our very good friend, is a rather large man, an opera singer and when he lands on their doorstep and sings out his questions, I imagine he will find out what happened. In the meantime, I will rely on the message of Avatar that good will conquer and we will get the sweater back.
