I am not on vacation like some people I know - looking at you sister - Barbados, harumph...These kids are my great-niece & nephew who had a vacation in Florida recently. I stole the photo from their mom's facebook page and played with it in Lightroom. The original was so very Florida, filled with light and turquoise colours. The kids looked so serious though that I felt compelled to take the Florida out of the photo. I'm playing a lot with photos as we come to the end of Kim Klassen's Photoshop Skinny course.
I found it a challenge to do the lessons, not because the lessons themselves were challenging but because I simply didn't sit down to do them. I never missed school when I went to the college for my classes, I may not be disciplined enough to "home school" myself.
Last night in an effort to remedy the problem, I moved my computer up to the dining room. It occurs to me that perhaps being in the basement (although it is a lovely basement) is not what I needed, I like to do a bit of this and a bit of that when I have some time to myself, I don't really sit down for hours on end and do just one thing. The computer upstairs allows me to cook, read, move around, look out the window and dream a bit in between.
Onto the fabric story, I have a quilt that has been in the making for YEARS now. I won't hang my head in shame because I know that I will finish it one day. It's now upstairs too along with the sewing machine. Perhaps if my tools are around me this weekend, I will actually accomplish something. My friend Se'Lah and I have spent the better part of this week trying to motivate ourselves to sew something.
She has a stash of quilting material and I don't, but last night I headed off to the fabric store and purchased some fabric.
There's a wee project in the making. I will show you the results, hopefully by the end of next week. I have a backup plan though, if I don't get it done, our Mom is coming to visit me for two weeks and she can finish it while I'm at work.I'm going to play in my makeshift studio of a dining room today, my very own creative space. I have all my tools at hand and finally feel ready to do instead of just dreaming about it!
Happy productive (if that's what you want) or lazy (if that's what you want) Saturday.

I'd like to see the end result. Those different fabrics look so good together.

Oh my goodness, I'm so far behind in Kim's class! Maybe that's what I'll request tomorrow. To have quiet time to catch up.

I have my studio, which is small and I could move to a larger room upstairs, but I keep it where it is for the same reason...it is in the center of the house, I can flit in and out as I wish. Love the mood of the pool photo, perfect with the expression on his face...
